Only a Force Quit works.Īnyone have any ideas? Thanks for your help. Trying to "quit" finder from Activity Monitor doesn't work. This morning "Idle Wake Ups" was about 32,000 if I remember correctly. The CPU Time will slowly increase and the "Idle Wake Ups" will grow. Sometimes in Activity Monitor, Finder shows "not responding" but most of the time it appears to be alive. I have tried to just let the system sit overnight to see if eventually it would work. I can't force Spotlight to reindex this folder since when I click on the folder to drag it into the Spotlight window, Finder quits responding. There seemed to also be indications of an issue with the Spotlight index being corrupt. Turning the extension off has made no difference. I am running OneDrive with the finder extension enabled. Some of the solutions pointed to the MS OneDrive finder extension being the culprit. But I could not find an issue where it was just one folder causing the issue. I have done some searching through the discussions and found there were early issues in Big Sur with finder not responding on startup. But I've known people with close to 20,000 songs in iTunes. Usually it will expand the folder and show all of the sub folders (Artists) and sometimes will allow me to click on one of the sub folders, but then that is it. It only does this when I click on that folder. When I click on my Music folder (user/Music/Music/Media/Music), the Finder app quits responding. Not new to iOS, but only had my Mac mini (m1, 2020) since March.Įverything was fine until about a week ago.
